At Georgetown Fintech, it is our sincere belief that the banking and legal industries have yet to experience the upheaval of the data revolution. Blockchain and other technologies utilized by startups to provide alternatives to traditional financial services have the potential to exert a paradigm-changing force on the banking industry. Following the 2008 financial crisis, regulators have played an ever-increasing role in shaping the services that financial institutions are able to provide. In light of this, we believe that legislators must work hand-in-hand with innovators to realize the full potential of the financial technology revolution.
We seek to host a panel discussion between leaders in the financial technology industry and commentators on the economic and legal implications of the impending data revolution in banking at the McDonough School of Business to discuss this very topic.
