Bitcoin and Blockchain: What happened in 2018 and What will happen from 2019
2017 witnessed the great rise of Bitcoin. And 2018 saw its dramatic fall, a reversal of fortune to many speculators of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. At the beginning of 2019, it is safe to say the Bitcoin fever is over. Now, why still talks about it??? What many people don’t see beyond the fanfare of mainstream media is the fact that Blockchain, the fundamental technology that supports Bitcoin and all cryptocurrencies, lives well and is growing rapidly. It has the potential to reshape the global technology landscape and transform the global economy in the next ten years. History has shown that it is during the downturn of an emerging phenomenon its underlying technology may develop and re-ermegin without much attention. USTSV is happy to have Dr. Zack, a Sr. Scientist at IBM Almaden Research Center, a faculty at USTSV, and one of the leading scholars in Blockchain and Cryptocurrency, to discuss the rise, fall and future re-rise of Blockchain. In this talk, Dr. Zack will present the concepts of blockchain, history of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, and more importantly future business applications of blockchain.
Dr. Zack is a Sr. Scientist, IBM Almaden Research Center located in San Francisco Bay Area and a faculty at USTSV. He has been working for IBM over 20 years, with primary focus on performance evaluation of data storage products. Dr. Zack’s current interests are in the areas of FinTech/Blockchain Deployment, Cognitive Business and AI Applications, Big Data Storage and Analytics, Cloud Computing Architecture, Service Science, Internet of Things, and Information Technology Service Management.
Dr. Zack is also an IBM University ambassador specializes in information technology engineering and services of many years and has been providing academic lectures locally at Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley, University of San Francisco, and San Jose State University, as well as teaching credited courses globally in more than 30 top universities in China. Dr. Zack has also hosted numerous seminars/lectures for onsite-visiting MBA/EMBA audience. In recognition of his contributions to the global community, Dr. Zack has been a recipient of United States President’s Volunteer Service Award each year for the past 10 years. Mr. Zack got Ph.D. on Computer Engineering of University of Hawaii at Manoa, and obtained BS at the University of Science and Technology of China.
USTSV Blockchain Fundamentals Training:
Dr. Zack also teaches Blockchain Fundementals at USTSV, during which he dives into much more technical details on blockchain technologies, its applications and its future. The training consists of four three-hour lectures, conducted during four weekends. As such, it is very suitable for those who are interested in learning blockchain during their spare time for job-oriented learning or self-enrichment.
