Co-founder and CEO
Shamir is the co-founder and CEO of Sila, the banking and payment platform for software teams building the next generation of financial products and services in both regulated and unregulated industries. Always drawn to serve smaller companies and entrepreneurs, Sila was founded in 2018 with the goal of empowering financial innovations.
Prior to Sila, Shamir played a crucial part in building the infrastructure that would pave the way for online banking. In 2009, he co-founded Simple, the first-of-its-kind neobank in the United States. With quick success, BBVA acquired Simple in 2014. Shamir then led the Open Platform at BBVA. In early aughts, Shamir also spent time as a consultant at McKinsey & Co, specializing in strategy for financial institutions in Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S.
Shamir studied physics and computer science at Bangalore University and is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business. He lives with his family in Portland, Oregon.
